Lehrte, Germany, 13^th of March 2020 – ACTEGA Metal Print GmbH today announces the German print specialist, Kolbe-Coloco Spezialdruck GmbH, as the world’s first beta customer for its revolutionary, sustainable and cost-effective metallization technology, EcoLeaf™. Focusing on high-end applications, the company will use the new solution to print profit driving metallization embellishments onto self-adhesive labels for a broad variety of markets.  The company cites the eradication of foil and its sustainability advantages as a key decision.

Based in Versmold, only a 1.5 hours drive from ACTEGA in Lehrte, Kolbe-Coloco is part of the 550 people Hamburg based printing group, H.O.PERSIEHL. The EcoLeaf operator training and unit installation on the company’s highly specified all-servo 12-colour press, with a combination of offset, flexo and screen all inline Gallus RCS, began in early March 2020.

“Our business is focused on print services that create a greater connection between a brand and the consumer, to ultimately aid sales. We do that by employing some of the best print technologies on the market, and EcoLeaf is a perfect example of this,” said Michael Leon, Managing Director, Kolbe-Coloco.

The basis of EcoLeaf is a silver pigment that can be overprinted, leading to a rainbow of metallic colors including gold. Integrated inline on analogue presses, digital printing presses or finishing equipment – either new or retrofitted to existing equipment – EcoLeaf consists of a printed trigger image and a metallization unit that applies only the precise and required amount of metal to the trigger image.

Spécialisée dans les applications haut de gamme, la société utilisera cette nouvelle solution pour imprimer des décorations métallisées, gages de futurs profits, sur des étiquettes auto-adhésives destinées à une grande variété de marchés.  L’entreprise cite la suppression des feuilles d’estampage et les atouts en matière de durabilité comme les deux arguments clés qui ont emporté sa décision.

Basé à Versmold, à seulement une heure et demie de route d’ACTEGA à Lehrte, Kolbe-Coloco fait partie du groupe d’imprimerie hambourgeois de 550 salariés, H.O.PERSIEHL. La formation des opérateurs sur EcoLeaf et l’installation de l’unité sur la presse Gallus RCS 12 couleurs de l’entreprise, entièrement servo-assistée et hautement spécifique, combinant les technologies offset, flexo et sérigraphique, le tout en ligne, ont commencé début mars 2020.

À la base d’EcoLeaf, il y a un pigment argenté qui peut recevoir une surimpression, ce qui permet d’obtenir toute une gamme de couleurs métalliques, parmi lesquelles l’or. Intégré en ligne sur des presses analogiques, des presses d’imprimerie numériques ou des équipements de finition – soit neufs, soit par rétrofit d’un équipement existant – EcoLeaf repose sur une image d’amorce imprimée et une unité de métallisation qui n’applique que la quantité de métal strictement nécessaire sur l’image d’amorce.

Das Unternehmen, dessen Schwerpunkt auf High-End-Anwendungen liegt, wird die neue Lösung einsetzen, um Selbstklebeetiketten mit dekorativen Metalleffekten zu bedrucken – ein gewinnbringendes Verfahren, das für ein breites Spektrum von Märkten geeignet ist. Hauptgrund für die Entscheidung waren laut Kolbe-Coloco der Verzicht auf Folie und die Nachhaltigkeitsvorteile von EcoLeaf™.

Kolbe-Coloco mit Sitz in Versmold, nur 1,5 Stunden Autofahrt von ACTEGA in Lehrte entfernt, ist Teil der in Hamburg ansässigen Firmengruppe H.O.Persiehl, die 550 Mitarbeiter beschäftigt. Mit der Installation des EcoLeaf-Systems und der Bedienerschulung an einer hoch spezialisierten 12-Farben-Druckmaschine – einer Gallus RC, die Offset-, Flexo- und Siebdruckverfahren unterstützt – wurde im März 2020 begonnen.

EcoLeaf lässt sich inline auf analogen und digitalen Druckmaschinen oder in der Druckveredelung mit neuen oder entsprechend nachgerüsteten Maschinen einsetzen und besteht aus einem gedruckten Trägerbild und einer Metallisierungseinheit, die exakt die benötigte Menge an Metall auf das Trägerbild aufbringt.

L’azienda, che si rivolge a un segmento elevato, impiegherà questa nuova soluzione per la stampa di decorazioni metallizzate promozionali su etichette autoadesive destinate a un’ampia varietà di mercati. A spingere l’azienda verso questa decisione è stata in primo luogo l’eliminazione completa della pellicola di alluminio e i vantaggi che ne derivano in termini di sostenibilità.

Con sede a Versmold, a solo un’ora e mezza da ACTEGA a Lehrte, Kolbe-Coloco fa parte di un gruppo di tipografie di Amburgo che conta 550 lavoratori, la H.O.PERSIEHL. La formazione degli operatori su EcoLeaf e l’installazione dell’unità sulla macchina di stampa a 12 colori completamente servoazionata Gallus RCS, altamente specializzata, che associa offset, flessografia e serigrafia in linea è partita all’inizio di marzo 2020.

“La nostra azienda propone servizi di stampa che creano un forte legame tra una marca e il consumatore per contribuire, in definitiva, a supportare le vendite. Alla base di Ecoleaf c’è un pigmento d’argento che può essere sovrastampato ottenendo così un effetto arcobaleno di colori metallici, incluso l’oro. La tecnologia Ecoleaf può essere integrata nella linea delle macchine da stampa analogiche e digitali oppure nelle apparecchiature di finitura, sia nuove sia esistenti, in queste ultime con un processo di adattamento. È composta da un’immagine trigger stampata e da una unità di metallizzazione che applica solo la quantità esatta necessaria di metallo all’immagine trigger.

La empresa, que se centra en aplicaciones de alta gama, utilizará la nueva solución para imprimir adornos metalizados en etiquetas autoadhesivas que impulsarán las ganancias en una amplia variedad de mercados. El factor clave para la decisión de la empresa ha sido la erradicación de las láminas y sus ventajas de sostenibilidad.

Integrado en línea en imprentas analógicas, en imprentas de impresión digital o en equipos de acabado, ya sean nuevos o adaptados a equipos existentes, EcoLeaf consta de una imagen de accionamiento impresa y una unidad de metalización que aplica solo la cantidad precisa y necesaria de metal a la imagen de accionamiento.
